2025 has been another remarkable year in the auction world, defined by global reach, and an enduring passion for art, design and collecting. As the year comes to a close, we look back at the moments, numbers, and trends that shaped twelve truly exciting months on our platform.

A World-Wide Web of Collectors

This year, 6,7 million bids were placed from 111 countries, reaffirming Auctionet’s role as a global destination for art, design, and collectibles. Over 13 million connoisseurs and curious newcomers from across the globe met on the platform, proving once again that great objects speak a universal language.

Our community continued to grow at a remarkable pace. In 2025, 160,100 new members joined Auctionet, pushing us past a major milestone: more than one million members worldwide. Among them was Cecilia Emtehag, proudly welcomed as member number 1,000,000.

What Everyone Was Bidding On

When it came to bidding activity, one category clearly led the way. The art category, paintings in particular, attracted more bids than any other category, proving art’s central place in the world of collecting. From modern compositions to timeless classics, paintings ignited competition and high engagement across auctions throughout the year.

Among the standout names was Estonian painter Lepo Mikko, whose works ranked among the most bid-on lots of the year, with several pieces attracting over 120 bids each. More broadly, Estonian art emerged as popular search term, generating notable interest and lively bidding across multiple auctions.

Trending: Lisa Larson Continues to Captivate

Few names resonate quite like Lisa Larson on Auctionet, and 2025 was no exception. Her figurines were among the most sought-after objects on the platform this year. Again.

4,032 Lisa Larson figurines was sold in 2025 (and still counting).

Collectors showed sustained enthusiasm for her playful forms, making her one of the year’s defining trends and a continued favorite among both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers.

Other search terms that ranked highly on the international list included Svenskt Tenn, Omega, Gold, Accordion, Märklin, and Guitarr (excluding general collective terms such as “chair,” “cabinet,” etc).

Rockets of the Year

Every year brings its surprises, with auctions suddenly taking off to new heights. In 2025, several auctions stood out, drawing intense bidding activity. These “rockets of the year” reminded us why auctions are unpredictable, newsworthy and at the very heart of what makes auctions so exciting.

The story of the gilt-bronze buddha is one of those tales that gives our industry the flair it so richly deserves. What began as a modest flea market bargain, a small statue picked up for a mere twenty kronor (about 2 Euro), unfolded into an extraordinary revelation. The unassuming figure, long overlooked and tucked away on a bookshelf, was later identified as a rare Korean gilt-bronze Buddha dating back to the Yongle period (1403-1424). Its journey from bargain find to museum-worthy treasure culminated in a stunning auction result of nearly 2 million SEK. It is precisely these moments, when knowledge, serendipity, and history collide, that remind us why the world of collecting remains endlessly captivating.

The story of the Buddha, the flea market bargain for 20 SEK - reaching a hammer price of 2 million SEK, reminds us of the thrill of auctions.

Highest Bids

From standout artworks to rare design pieces, the year also delivered exceptional hammer prices. The highest bids of 2025 showcased the strength of the market and the willingness of collectors to compete for those outstanding pieces.

Most Bids

Some lots didn’t just reach high prices, they drew extraordinary attention from Auctionet’s visitors. The most-bid-on item of the year captured the full thrill of competition, attracting 145 bids and soaring from 4,000 SEK to 410,000 SEK.

Looking Ahead

As we step into a new year, one thing is clear: Auctionet continues to grow not only in numbers, but in relevance, reach, and passion. With a global community, strong trends, and unwavering interest in objects and stories, we look forward to another year of discovery, craftsmanship, and memorable auctions.

Thank you to everyone who bid, bought, sold, browsed, and believed in Auctionet during 2025. Happy New Year.
