In a world where musical talent comes and goes, few artists have achieved the level of success and global impact that Ed Sheeran has. The demand for anything that Ed touches is huge. He has not only become one of the most iconic names in the music industry but is in fact the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify. As of 2024 Sheeran's "Shape of You"  tops the charts with over 3.19 billion streams, making him a living legend. His career really took off after his chart-topping debut album was released in 2011 followed by his second album, released in 2014, and the third, released three years later, that all went on to become global best-sellers.

The auction will see a wide range of objects donated by Ed Sheeran and among the items available to bid on are musical instruments, jackets, t-shirts and trainers as well as some shirts from his sponsorship deal with Ipswich Town FC.

Strong support

Ed’s support for the St Elizabeth Hospice runs parallel to this career, a well known supporter of local charities he stays very loyal to his Suffolk upbringing as where he grew up, Framlingham, is a mere half-hour drive away from where the auction will take place at Bishop & Miller in Stowmarket.

The buzz around this next auction is building early with bidding already taking place weeks before the day of the auction. But with impressive lots to be able to own which includes Sheeran’s custom-painted Martin & Co., Inc. LXM 'Little Martin' acoustic guitar, hopes are high that it will be a successful fundraiser for the charity. This particular star lot features custom artwork on the front and it’s a celebration of Sheeran’s shows at Air Canada Centre in Toronto that took place on the 7th and 8th of July 2017.

Unique fan opportunity

Clare Chater, Director of Income Generation at St Elizabeth Hospice, is quick to express gratitude for what she calls Sheeran’s “amazing generosity”.

– It’s a truly unique opportunity for all Ed Sheeran fans, she declares while also thanking Bishop & Miller for hosting the auction. According to Chater, the funds are vital for the hospice to carry out its services.

– Annually, our hospice team supports thousands of people throughout East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney. We’re reliant on donations and fundraising to continue our work, and every penny raised by the auction will make a difference to those under our care, Chater explains.

Personal pieces

At Bishop & Miller Auctioneers, Managing Director Oliver Miller says he’s very excited to be able to host an Ed Sheeran auction on behalf of the hospice.

– We know how much of a global superstar he is, and people genuinely love to own something from his personal collection, so this auction is a fantastic opportunity to do just that, Miller declares.
