TORSTEN Edvard BILLMAN 135x190mm Graphic artist, draftsman, born May 6, 1909 in Kullavik, died April 6, 1989 in Kungsbacka. He studied at the Slöjdföreningens school in Gothenburg in 1931 and at Valand in 1933-1934. He has painted, drawn and worked with graphic sheets, with sailors, harbor motifs and marines. Has also done wall paintings. He has preferred working with woodcuts, which he mastered to perfection, such as in the grisaille technique.
Exhibition: Nine Gothenburg painters, together with Rudolf Flink, Olof Leyman, Wilgot Olsson, Alf Lindberg, Hugo Simson, Olle Skagerfors, Per Lindekrantz, Åke Winnberg Gothenburg Art Gallery 1966.
Represented: Moderna Museet and Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Malmö Museum, Borås Museum, Norrköping, and Umeå's museum.
He has illustrated several books by Dostoevsky and Harry Martinsson.
Teacher in graphics at Valand 1974-1975.
