Vita: Wolfgang Stiller studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1984 to 1989. Between 2000 and 2007 he lived in New York and from 2007 to 2008 in China, where he taught as a visiting professor at New York University in Shanghai, among other roles.
Stiller is particularly known for his "Matchstickmen". With the burnt matchstick heads, which have been created in various sizes and materials since 2008, Stiller repeatedly invents new installations that are adapted to the respective exhibition situations. He pays special attention to the properties of materials and surface structures. Countless of his objects are, for example, the result of a cast or impression, whereby the original object has no significance as a reference and is generally no longer recognizable. What remains is the pure form.

Stiller's work has been represented in numerous solo exhibitions worldwide, including in New York, Tokyo, Taipei and São Paulo.
