Deep inside a dark storage room, a long-hidden treasure was rediscovered – hundreds of vintage photographs, taken and developed by the artist himself. Images from the late 1960s onwards, which have remained in silence for over half a century, bear witness to an artistry that operated in the shadows but held a natural place in the photographic movement of its time.

Born in Södra Viker and raised in Lennartsfors, Nils-Erik Wikebäck developed his visual sense early on and, as an autodidact, worked his way to a personal and technically accomplished expression. His breakthrough came in 1966 when he was accepted into the influential Bildgruppen CAMUS, whose international success would also shape his own career.
Over the years, his photography gained recognition in some thirty countries, with several prestigious awards and exhibitions in Europe, the USA, and Japan.
