Along with Fender, Gibson is the largest manufacturer of electric guitars. The company was started as early as 1902 and initially sold mostly mandolins. But during the 1930s, guitars began to be sold on a larger scale. In 1942, the Gibson J-45 was launched, which would become its best-selling acoustic model.
Successful and innovative models would soon become a signature and already in the 1930s the ES-150 became one of the very first acoustic guitars with electronics. The first true electric guitar model was the ES-175 and it wouldn't take until 1952 for the manufacturer to release a solid body electric guitar - the Gibson Les Paul.
The Gibson Les Paul has acquired the highest status over the years. It is the ingredients of bold sound, appealing design and sharp sense of attitude that have created a special aura. The combination of Les Paul and a Marshall amplifier is for some the magic formula for an epic rock sound.
The model was created in the early 1950s in collaboration with guitarist Les Paul. The guitar was made in a completely solid body, which was a novelty at the time.
There have since been several editions of the Gibson Les Paul. The first version was called Goldtop and we at Stadsauktion Sundsvall are incredibly happy that we have been trusted to sell this unique guitar at auction via Auctionet
CITES permit is included. Exporting outside the EU will require an additional export permit.
Age-related Normal wear and tear, scratches, marks. Crackling occurs. Switch tip is missing. A pot exchanged. Cables partially replaced. Original tape.
