Gibson is alongside Fender the largest manufacturer of electric guitars. The company was established as early as 1902 and initially primarily sold mandolins. However, during the 1930s, guitars began to be sold on a larger scale. In 1942, the Gibson J-45 was launched, which would become its best-selling acoustic model.
Successful and innovative models would soon become a trademark, and already in the 1930s, the ES-150 became one of the very first acoustic guitars with electronics. The first true electric guitar model was the ES-175, and it wasn't until 1952 that the manufacturer released an electric guitar with a solid body - the Gibson Les Paul.
The Gibson Les Paul has gained the highest status over the years. It is the ingredients of a rich sound, appealing design, and sharp attitude that have created a special aura. The combination of Les Paul and a Marshall amplifier is, for some, the magical formula for an epic rock sound.
