Description

Uwe Hand (born 1952), landscape, mixed media on canvas, 2009, signed and inscribed 'VIII/09' on the reverse of the folded canvas, approx. 134x163cm.

Uwe Hand comes from Schleswig and studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Dietmar Lemcke. He received teaching positions at various art colleges for over 20 years. To this day he lives and works in Berlin and Eckernförde.
The gestural structures of his canvases consist of countless layers of color and material, which are worked with all kinds of painting media and instruments and with the greatest physical effort. Hand paints, pours and fills, among other things, layers of oil, acrylic, pigment and sand onto an initially black primer. The surreal, dreamlike motifs open up wide spaces for your own imagination.
