Anton Melbye (1818-1875), Sailing Ship at Night, oil on panel, 1859, signed lower left, dated on the reverse, approx. 18.3 x 14 cm, with frame approx. 28 x 23.7 cm.

Danish marine painter. Melbye attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, traveled to Morocco and lived alternately in Denmark, Hamburg and Paris. His works can be found in the Glypthothek and the Hirschsprung Collection, Copenhagen, the National Museum, Stockholm and the art galleries in Hamburg and Bremen.

Slightly darkened, small old retouches. Frame with signs of wear.
