Stockholms Auktionsverk Hamburg has returned to what the auction market once primarily engaged in: traditional painting and antiques. In a theme spanning over 100 lots, European and Chinese porcelain, silverware, Asian bronzes, veneered furniture, and artworks from several centuries are now presented.
Some of the highlights of the auction are a painting by Adam Willaerts (1577-1664) 'Embarkation in a Dutch Port', several KPM vases with soft painting or a magnificent Empire-style table clock by Honoré Pons. Various exquisite antiques come from the estate of the well known German writer Siegfried Lenz. Among the Asian Art, a bronze from the Ming dynasty, Bodhisattva Puxian, shall be mentioned. The curated selection also includes modern art from Philipp Bauknecht to Eduard Bargheer, with the sculpture "Chéri Bibi" by Max Ernst standing out in particular.
