A personal collection of ceramics, born above all of Swedish soil, from the abundant clay around Kinnekulle, the Höganäs peninsula and the areas around Uppsala and Gustavsberg. Dig where you stand, quite simply.
Every piece has grown up on a potter's wheel. Glazes as soft as velvet, or as coarse as if hewn from granite. Pieces small enough to sit in the palm of your hand, and others large enough to hold a great armful of dried wheat. Forms inspired by the neighbourhood and by the other side of the globe. Glazes that answer to names such as tenmoku, celadon, hare's fur and oxblood.
Here the well-known names sit alongside those who have spent less time in the spotlight but are every bit as fine designers and masters at the wheel. The stars of Gustavsberg and Rörstrand have their place. Marianne Westman, Lisa Larson, Carl-Harry Stålhane, Gunnar Nylund and Stig Lindberg stand side by side, in the company of masters of Scanian clay such as Claes Thell, Rolf Palm, Yngve Blixt, John Andersson, Åke Holm and Gunnar Borg. And who wouldn't want to live with a vase from Upsala-Ekeby, a bowl from Nittsjö or a dish from Bo Fajans? Browse a selection of Swedish history made in clay. Come closer. You can feel the effort of the body and the imprint of the hand.
