Some people from Skåne may know him as a church painter. For others he is a portrayer of the Scanian landscape. His inspirations were Carl Fredrik Hill and Paul Gauguin. He trained in the 1930s and made his debut in 1931 at Skånes Konstförening's autumn salon in Malmö.
At Garpenhus Auktioner we encounter Bertil Landenius as an easel painter. We are given the landscapes, a few coastal views — and then there are some examples of his figures, who seem filled with quiet thoughts and reflections that fill the canvases with an almost vibrating intensity.
