Scandinavian functional form takes centre stage as Crafoord Auktioner Malmö presents Modern Design Sale – Spring Edition!
In a theme comprising 60 lots, we are treated to beautiful furniture art from Sweden and Denmark alongside a few well-chosen continental exceptions.
Johannes Andersen's spacecraft of a sofa occupies a central position. It is flanked by a pair of desks by Poul Volther, a pair of slender armchairs by Karl Erik Ekselius and two Swan armchairs from Arne Jacobsen's groundbreaking 1950s.
Standing as a solitary piece is Karen and Ebbe Clemmensen's elegant armchair 4305, manufactured by Fritz Hansen. And if one of those continental exceptions is to be singled out, it is perhaps the substantial sofa group from de Sede that takes pride of place. Beyond these, models by Bengt Ruda, Jens Nielsen, Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist, Josef Frank and many more are also presented.
