The name is said to originally derive from the reeds that grew around Lake Klara. And it is possible to trace the history all the way back to the 13th century. But when we are offered some seventy highlights from the venerable porcelain manufacturer, it is pieces from the post-war era that take centre stage. The designers are familiar names by now. Carl-Harry Stålhane, Hertha Bengtsson, Gertrud Lönegren, Olle Alberius, Timo Sarvimäki — and of course Gunnar Nylund, perhaps the most influential ceramicist of the Swedish welfare state era.
Of Nylund's work alone we find both slender vases and distinctive lynx heads. Stålhane's vase from 1953 is an entire decade in concentrate. And just in time for late summer's festive evenings under coloured lanterns — a set of crayfish plates designed by Alf Wallander.
