A collection of furniture and decorative arts from a manor house in Blekinge may sound like a lengthy heading — but it conceals a packed, colour-saturated, almost madly exuberant theme filled with design.
If you have a taste for colour and form, you will be more than satisfied here — in every price range. Handpicked treasures from the pages of the IKEA catalogue mingle with modern (and postmodern!) decorative arts of the very highest calibre.
Just look at Edvard Thomsen & Kaj Louis Jensen’s almost magical wardrobe from 1934. And Alessandro Mendini’s pixelated beauty, created some fifty years later. A rug by Massimo Iosa Ghini, as psychedelic as anything the 1990s ever produced. Then Peter Kiefernagel’s wall sculptures, the Hald vase (a marvel of restraint in this context), striking works by Sonia Delaunay, Samuel Herman, and Nanna Ditzel — and, right in the midst of it all, Lisa Larson’s small ceramic children.
