People in Gothenburg know his name. In Sweden’s second largest city, he painted and exhibited actively throughout the 1980s and ’90s. Yet his story begins much earlier.
He was born in 1929 on a farm in Västergötland, where he grew up with a mother who opened the door to culture and literature. But it was painting that captured him — sometime during the 1950s. At that time, he seems to have been influenced by the Cobra group, the cosmopolitan collective founded in a Paris café on an autumn day in 1948.
