We are honored to auction off a significant part of the renowned and published bayonet expert Björn Schöön’s collection of dirks, combat knives, and bayonets. Schöön authored the standard reference Bayonets/Bajonetter/Bajonette in 1986. He began collecting bayonets in the 1960s, and at its peak, his collection comprised over 1,100 items. In the upcoming auctions, his unique collection will go under the hammer.
Among the highlights of this auction, we find a Fairbairn Smatchet, a DDR M/1961 dirk for a marshal, and an M/1939 dirk from the fascist Hlinka Guard in Slovakia.
The auction also features several interesting firearms, including a rare double-barreled needlefire pistol manufactured by Teschner-Collath, and an incredibly rare M/1861 Manceaux breech-loading rifle for the rifle corps of Napoleon III’s life guard—only 50 examples were ever made. Among the pistols, highlights include a Dutch cavalry pistol from the 17th century, a stunning pair of cavalry pistols from Örebro with alder root stocks, and a magnificent pair of heavy pistols by Durs Egg. In addition, a variety of fine firearms in different price ranges will be available.
The militaria category presents an array of intriguing uniform pieces and accessories, including a hand-sewn M/1845 shirt and an M/1860 tricorn for the drabant corps. Also featured are military bags, field mailboxes, grenades, bullet tongs, reflex sights, and many other exciting items.
