Scandinavian modernism truly gets to shine a little extra as Stockholms Auktionsverk now presents Nordic Design Jewellery. The auction house’s specialists in the field have selected just over 130 lots. Together, they have composed a theme that alternates works by our best-known creators with pieces by less frequently encountered names. Thus Estrid Ericson, Tapio Wirkkala, and Björn Weckström share space here with Ingrid Bärndal, Gertrud Engel, and Per Dåvik.
Wiwen Nilsson is of course also represented, with her austere design language. Rey Urban contributes a bangle with an open shank and cabochon-cut amazonite. And just look at the blue in the chalcedony that Karl-Ingemar Johansson chose for his ring from 1974. A muted tone like that almost requires a deep-sea submarine to spot otherwise. One of many experiences on offer in the theme Nordic Design Jewellery.
