A real workhorse of a truck stands parked outside "Sweden's most modern coffee roastery." We see it on the rather worn but charm-soaked enamel sign from SKÅNSKA KAFFE AKTIEBOLAGET. The sign is one of just over 100 lots in Auktionshuset Kolonn's Decorative Arts sale now being presented.
The catalogue is varied and filled with curious objects. Like that ornately curled oil lamp from late 19th-century Berlin. Or Georg Wojidkow's undulating candelabra, as if made for a candlelit dinner.
Josef Frank is represented, as are Nanny Still, Bertil Vallien, Hans Hedberg, and Anna Ehrner. Nikolai Konstantinovich Kalmakov's depiction of the ever-relevant motif of St George and the Dragon is a probable highlight. Gabriela Noelle's cork-shaped stool in vibrant colors is an exclamation point of an entirely different kind. And then there hangs a grand chandelier lending a perfectly elegant finishing touch to it all.
You are warmly welcome!
