From 10 July to 20 July 2026, Stockholms Auktionsverk in Hamburg is offering porcelain figurines and porcelain groups from Saxon and Thuringian manufactories. In the mid-18th century, the abundance of forests, numerous bodies of water, the local Arcanum, and the experience of the workers in the regional glassworks favored the establishment of many porcelain manufactories in Thuringia. As Saxony was the custodian of the strictly guarded secret recipe for producing the "white gold", private manufacturers were forced to develop the formula anew and adapt their production to the market. In 1884, the Sitzendorf manufactory developed a process of dipping lace into liquid porcelain paste, ensuring that only the structure of the lace was preserved through the firing process. The figurines from the Scheibe-Alsbach, Sitzendorf, Unterweißbach, Potschappel, and Plauen manufactories capture the lightness of life and leisure. They depict the figurines and figurine groups in the Rococo and Biedermeier styles making music, reading, enjoying social gatherings, romantic trysts, and carriage rides. Historical events are also reflected in the figurines. Find your personal favorite piece and place your bid now!
