Formstad's Selected

In the "Selected" theme, we gather objects that possess something special—whether it is a striking form, fine craftsmanship, a compelling history, or an aesthetic quality that commands attention. The auction features art, design, glass, ceramics, furniture, and collectibles spanning various eras and styles.

Art plays a prominent role in the selection. Axel Fridell’s Systrarna Ingrid & Brita (The Sisters Ingrid & Brita) from 1928 is a sensitive portrait where the line work does much of the heavy lifting. Joronn Sitje’s Bitte (1944) offers a more painterly and colourful expression, while Eric Pehap’s abstract motif from 1973 reveals another facet of post-war visual language. Also included are graphic works by Salvador Dalí and abstract landscapes by Helmut Mantel, where color and imagination take center stage.

The furniture selection includes several iconic designs. Josef Frank is represented by both sofas and lamps created for Firma Svenskt Tenn, including the red "Model 703" sofa and the "Model 1100" sofa. The "LC-4" chaise longue by Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, and Perriand exemplifies international modernism through its minimalist, functional form. Swedish modernism and "Swedish Grace" are also represented, with armchairs, chairs, tables, and serving furniture demonstrating how diverse styles can coexist harmoniously.

The auction also features several items that add an element of surprise to the collection. A 1972 Gibson SG 100 introduces a touch of music history, while Bang & Olufsen’s "Beomaster 900" represents 1960s design tailored for home audio. The selection also includes jewellery, silver, antique faience, Royal Copenhagen’s "Blue Fluted" pattern, Italian Murano glass, and several high-quality Oriental rugs featuring silk accents.
