Crafoord Auktioner Malmö takes us to Orrefors, where we are invited to savour the art of lighting from an era when it was truly allowed to be lavish and finely crafted in every detail. Carl Fagerlund – and to some extent Fritz Kurz – is responsible for the 16 lots now on offer.
Fagerlund, a trained drawing teacher, had spent a brief period at ASEA before joining Orrefors glassworks in 1946. He remained there for over three decades, and over the years adapted his design language to shifting fashions and ideals. His long tenure at Orrefors secures him a place among the most significant lighting architects in 20th century Sweden.
