With Crafoord Auktioner Stockholm we draw close to the societies of centuries past. In the theme Historiska mynt – En Tidsresa, we are confronted with artefacts that served as recognised means of payment in times when Erik of Pomerania, Erik XIV and Sten Sture the Elder were in full swing.
A 4 Mark coin from 1615 bearing the profile of Gustav II Adolf is one of the highlights of the theme. It is presented alongside a handful of Oscarian gold coins – and just look at the portrait of Queen Christina on the ¼ riksdaler from 1646.
The catalogue encompasses just over 120 lots with coins from six centuries, plus a selection of banknotes, among which the well-preserved thousand-kronor note is a true work of art.
