At the turn of the century, national romantic ideals attracted artists to the countryside, where nature and tradition were at the center. The Taserud native Christian Eriksson returned from Paris and built the Oppstuhage home and studio in Taserud. At the turn of the century, Eriksson allowed the artists Gustaf and Maja Fjaestad to live, thrive and create. The artists and craftsmen in early 20th century Arvika succeeded in creating an environment characterized by proximity to nature, creation and community, the artistic and came to inspire many artists during their time and also future generations of artists and craftsmen until today.
The auction offers several top objects in art, such as Gustaf Fjæstad's early moonlight motif from Värmland, dated 1896, Fritz Lindström's "Summer evening with a fresh breeze" from 1905 and Eric Rhönnstad (Andersson)'s winter painting "Rimfrost by the watercourse".
The catalogue also contains a collection of objects from the prominent arts and crafts family Göran, as well as a number of exciting sculptures, wrought iron and decorative paintings from architect Bror Almquist's summer pleasure Talludden in Brunskog. Ceramic works by Hilma Persson-Hjelm and other renowned ceramists from Arvika are also presented. In addition, a wide selection of brass crafts by Lars Holmström and Arvid Johansson are offered.
