What could be better on a fine summer's day like this than pulling an armchair out into the garden and leafing through the contents of Lilla Kvalitén at your leisure? Just in time for Midsummer, Stockholms Auktionsverk presents a truly delightful catalogue of 500 lots.
Olle Hjortzberg and the X brings flowers. From Gusums Bruk comes a paraffin lamp with a globe shade. From Åbo comes a silver chocolate pot made by Olof Robert Lundgren in 1798. Mats Theselius contributes two armchairs in what he calls Noir — heavy and elegant, and a total contrast to the charmingly rough red rattan chairs by Royal Court Basketmaker R. Wengler. Then there is postmodernism by Gaetano Pesce, a good deal of Swedish silver cutlery from the 18th century, a Russian lantern, a pleasingly angular equestrian figure by Lisa Larson, faience from Mariebergs Porslinsfabrik, a mirror that once hung in the Royal Dramatic Theatre, a bicycle from Källemo, and much, much more. In short, there is a great deal to discover here.
And finally — step forward, Artur Sandin's exquisite storage cabinet from 1909, and read about the "reddest wild strawberries and lingonberries." Is that not a Midsummer dream?
Welcome!
