Simone de Beauvoir’s debut novel, Fidel Castro’s autograph, and a first edition of Pippi Longstocking from 1945 are among the highlights in Crafoord Auktioner Lund’s November Book Auction.
The auction comprises just over 200 lots and, as always, offers an exciting variety. There is more Pippi, but also works by Tranströmer, the first Swedish translation of the Qur’an, and eleven volumes of Homer — to name just a few.
In the heavyweight section, one finds the sixth volume of Martin Luther’s collected writings in the so-called Altenburg edition, bound in contemporary pigskin. Or, if one prefers, Johan Philip von Strahlenberg’s rare work on Siberia.
Lighter fare includes books on the masters of modernism, collectible “Alfa” cards, and a group of autographs from the motor legends of the 20th century.
