In every home, there are objects that carry a special presence — things that do more than fill a space; they give it meaning. The themed auction Selected gathers works and objects that, in different ways, bear traces of time, ideas, and emotion. Here, art, design, and craftsmanship meet in a selection that spans centuries and expressions, from romantic painting to modernist lines and contemporary interpretations.
Among the highlights is Sirje Runge’s atmospheric painting Illusion XVII, where layers of color create an almost meditative sense of space. Örjan Sätre lets figures emerge from a pulsating field of color, while Eva Bagge’s introspective 1940s interior reminds us how stillness can be an expression in itself. Also not to be missed is Jean-Claude Farhi’s painting, in which the boundary between sky and sea dissolves into a gentle haze.
The auction also presents examples of Nordic design at its most independent, such as Fritz Hansen’s sheepskin-covered armchair from the 1940s or Torbjørn Afdal’s elegant Krobo bench, whose clean lines feel as natural today as when first created. From Italian workshops come glass light fixtures from Murano, where light itself seems to take on physical form through soft contours.
The selection also includes older pieces — from 18th-century late Baroque brass candlesticks to Chinese teapots and bowls from the Qing and Republican periods, painted in a captivating iron-red glaze. Together, they form a tapestry of cultures, eras, and design languages, where each object tells the story of its own place in history.
