Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki welcomes you back to the enchanted world of
Russian porcelain. Also this time there are oven-baked pralines in white and gold
from an era when only the best was good enough.
Three plates with engraved motifs by Ivan Cheskii are distinguished examples of the
professional skills within the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory. At a time when the rest
of Europe's porcelain production was industrialized with simpler mass-produced
tableware, the vast empire in the east retained its high quality of the set table.
Several well-preserved masterpieces can be seen here from the incomparable 19th
century. Especially those who like to enjoy a nice cup of coffee should be able to find
something appealing.
The modern taste is also catered for.The auction presents a series of figurines from
Dmitrovski and Lomonosov, including the theme's most colorful numbers - a pair of
hippos in the 1970s fashion color orange! The contrast between these and the gold-
edged empire services makes the scope of the theme visible. You can span a 200-
year-long arch from the theme's oldest high society plates to the more charmingly
modeled penguins and roosters of the late 20th century. An arc of varied tastes,
changing ideals and trends that have come and gone. Welcome to find your favorite!
