Midnight Sun in Lapland—this was the title of the painting Acke Åslund exhibited at the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris. He was only 19 years old at the time. That same year, he began his studies at the Technical School, followed by training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. From an early age, Åslund had a keen interest in horses and even studied their anatomy at the Veterinary College.
At Stockholms Auktionsverk Sickla, we are presented primarily with model studies, where he has depicted male figures in various poses using charcoal on paper.
