Formstad's Retro

Welcome to yet another of our popular auctions themed around Retro. The term "retro" has firmly established itself in the auction world—not least since the magazine of the same name was launched in 2011 and began systematically charting Swedish design from the 1940s onward. Designers such as Lisa Larson, Stig Lindberg, and Marianne Westman returned to the spotlight after spending some time in the shadows.
At this retro auction, there's much to rediscover and delight in—take, for example, Stig Lindberg's groundbreaking TV from 1960, which can best be described as a modernist museum piece, or his many whimsical faience works, characterized by joyful patterns and unbridled imagination.
Ultimately, perhaps that's what retro is really about—retrouver, the French word for "to rediscover"—finding something from the past that's truly worth preserving.
