In 2025 it will be one hundred years since Axel Petersson "Döderhultarn" passed away. Throughout the year, the municipality of Oskarshamn has paid tribute to the memory of perhaps its most famous son – and Auktionshuset Thelin & Johansson is contributing with a special themed auction dedicated to the master of wood.
The auction includes 47 wooden figures divided into 20 lots, including entire groups such as The Wedding, The Conscription and The Auction, as well as classics such as Heifer with Milkmaid and Shepherd Boy with Calf.
With his wooden figures, Döderhultarn captured the seriousness and humor of everyday life, the small quirks of man and great emotions. His art is both deeply Småland and universally human – and has made him one of the world's most appreciated woodcarvers.
