In the early 1930s, Georg Blaisdell, while visiting the Bradford Country Club in Bradford, Pennsylvania, got the idea for a new kind of lighter. A friend at his table was struggling to light a cigarette, which sparked an idea in Blaisdell. Soon after, he developed a prototype, and not long after that, the name "Zippo" was born. Blaisdell reportedly thought the name had a modern ring to it. The rest, as they say, is history.
Now, Garpenhus Auktioner is showcasing a theme auction with over 60 different Zippo lighter models, with a particular emphasis on those from the 1990s. This is a great opportunity to either expand your collection or start a new one.
