A hallmark of Finnish design history is the art of lighting, and now Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki embraces this Finnish specialty by presenting 71 lamps, from floor to ceiling. Naturally, the auction includes models from the most renowned names. Here, you’ll find lamps by Paavo Tynell, Alvar Aalto, Lisa Johansson-Pape, Yki Nummi, and Bertel Gardberg. But the theme offers much more.
Of particular interest is a large and spectacular church chandelier by Eino Schroderus, designed in the 1920s for Taidetakomo Koru. Among the internationally most sought-after models are Paavo Tynell’s models 1953 and 1088 in polished brass and glass. Lisa Johansson-Pape’s floral gem from the 1940s, model 1304, is also likely to attract bidders from near and far.
These mentioned pieces are just a few highlights from a diverse and rich catalog.
A warm welcome!
