Stockholms Auktionsverk Helsinki presents the catalog for the Winter Auction 2024!
Spanning nearly 300 lots, it is traditionally filled with a carefully curated selection of fine art and antiques of the highest quality.
Among the paintings, several highlights stand out. Of particular note is a collection of works by Pekka Halonen, a fascinating figure in Finnish art history. Halonen rose from a humble background to study under Paul Gauguin in Paris. His paintings are characterized by a profound love and respect for nature. One of the Halonen pieces featured in this auction, Tallskog om vintern (Pine Forest in Winter), takes center stage. Created in 1913, it reflects Halonen's evolved palette, incorporating new colors into his work. The painting radiates warmth despite its snow-covered, pristine white landscape.
Equally noteworthy is Elin Danielson-Gambogi’s delightful summer scene from Livorno, Italy. Similarly, Akseli Gallen-Kallela's painting Porten i Taos (The Gate in Taos) captures the gateway to the house the Gallen-Kallela family rented in Taos, serving as a symbol of his time in the United States.
The decorative arts section includes antique silver, multiple pairs of 19th-century candlesticks, a Russian salon suite from the later part of the same century, jewelry, glass, and porcelain, as well as modern pieces by notable designers such as Alvar Aalto and Paavo Tynell.
Welcome!
