The General Art and Industrial Exhibition in Stockholm in 1897 - when you watch the short black-and-white film clips from there, you can hardly believe it's true. Incredible things, hordes of gentlemen in tall hats, ladies with parasols, and truly magical industrial buildings with domes and towers. The premiere of the hot dog (eaten with gloves!), the new Djurgården Bridge, and almost five months of a folk festival. That's how it was just before the 19th century turned into the 20th. And from this remarkable event, Stadsauktion Sundsvall can now present souvenirs, memorabilia, and all sorts of goodies taken from one of our most significant exhibitions on Swedish soil. The highlight is the very rare poster with the text "EXPOSITION STOCKHOLM," pure graphic history and a highly decorative one at that. Along with it, there are writings, printed materials, porcelain, glass, and enamel, and even a guitar adorned with the portrait of Oscar II.
