Crafoord Auktioner Stockholm presents a summer auction featuring, among other items, Jan Wigren's extensive and high-quality collection of graphics, drawings, and original works by the artist and archipelago chronicler Roland Svensson. The close and long-time friend Jan Wigren helped Roland Svensson catalog and list all the art. Later, he was also a driving force behind the formation of the Roland Svensson Friends Society and the Roland Svensson Museum on Möja. The collection includes the sought-after prints “Sandhamnshålet,” “Röder utskärgård,” “Vinterbåten,” “Juninatt, Gillöga,” and “Pelarsommar.”
Painter, graphic artist, illustrator, cultural historian, geographer, and author Roland Svensson (1919-2003) enriched our view of the archipelago. No one else has managed to depict the entire archipelago environment with its boats, wildlife, and people in the same way he did.
The auction also includes a fine and exciting section of nautical collectibles, ship models, as well as ship portraits and marine paintings by artists such as Anna Palm de Rosa, Lars Petter Sjöström, expedition artists Samuel August Duse and Frank Wilbert Stokes, Per Wilhelm Cedergren, Ludvig Richarde, Arvid Johansson, Gösta Werner, and Harald Lindberg. Among the highlights is the colorful and detailed oil painting “Mälardrottningen” by Bert Håge Häverö.
Ship ahoy! Auction: Monday, August 26th. Viewing: Galoppvägen 3, Täby, Monday-Friday, 1-5 PM.
