Like a spring vernissage in the midst of winter, Kolonn opens the new auction year with a fresh and very exciting mix of contemporary art and design. Among the auction's 85 lots, works by prominent artists such as Marie-Louise Ekman, Tommy Hilding, Madeleine Pyk, Karin Mamma Andersson, and especially Lars Hillersberg, whose work 'Motorintresserad Kungdom' is refreshingly provocative, can be found.
The sculptural art includes Åsa Jungselius' now classic lipsticks and 'Modul' by Lars Erik Falk, Christina Rosén's charming dog sculpture, Anu Penttinen's glass sculpture 'Ippy the Hippie,' and several decorative silver vases with an extremely sculptural design. Many of the theme's furniture pieces, through ingenious design, hover on the border of art. A rich selection of coveted chairs by Charles & Ray Eames, the sofa 'Bastiano' by Tobia Scarpa, the unusual and very tough table 'Formula' by Ruud Ekstrand & Christer Norman, and the lounge chair 'Superspider' from Dux, as well as James Irvine's stylish sofa from 1991, can be found here.
The entire spring exhibition is elegantly illuminated by contemporary masterpieces such as the floor lamps 'Rosy Angelis' and 'Superarchimoon' by Philippe Starck, as well as the ceiling lamp 'Two Spheres' by Gwendolyn & Guillane Kerschbaumer. The extremely exclusive and almost iconic aluminum armchair by Mats Theselius, which, in Kolonn's theme, is accompanied by two different works by the designer's parents, is an example of the auction's rich and thoughtfully curated selection, where much more awaits discovery.
