Andrew Snape was once a farrier to King Charles II. He was also the first to write a book in English about horse anatomy. It was published in 1683 and featured no less than 49 copperplate engravings. A first edition of this significant book is now available for browsing at Crafoord Auktioner in Lund. It's a fine sample from their book quality sale, which, once again, offers both classics and more surprising, unusual volumes. Mario Nizolio's extensive work on Cicero's language, presented in an extraordinary leather binding, is another highlight of the auction. A third item is a 15th-century incunabulum about the lives and thoughts of famous philosophers. In total, there are over 70 lots, and among them, you'll find items like autographs from the Beatles, Magnus Gabriel Craelius' "Försök till ett landskaps beskrifning," a couple of modern plays with personal greetings, Martin Luther's Bible filled with 173 woodcuts (initials not included). Plus, as they say, much, much more. Welcome!
