Anders Zorn’s etchings are a chapter of their own in Swedish art history. Alongside his masterworks in watercolor and oil, he distinguished himself as a remarkable etcher. His first etching appeared in the early 1880s and was followed by nearly 300 more. In these black-and-white images, Zorn emerges as something of a Rembrandt of the late 19th century, with his densely drawn needle strokes filling the picture surfaces and creating both depth and coherence at once.
At Gomér & Andersson Norrköping, we are presented with seven well-known motifs – quintessential works by one of the greatest names in Swedish art history.
