Watercolour on paper, total 151 x 308 cm divided on 3 papers where each paper is 151 x 102,3 cm Signed and dated Lars Lerin 2018.
Between the white trunks of a still birch forest, the last rays of the sun of the day are silted. In the foreground fall some snowflakes reminiscent of those in paper, which children at preschool cut out and put on the windows for Christmas. The auction's work “Björskog” is monumental in size and made up of three large sheets of paper. The size of the work creates the feeling that one can step in among the trees and be enveloped by the calming power of nature. Birches are a recurring motif for Lars Lerin and one of his most beloved. Defoliated in snowy winter landscapes, in sheer summer garb or with a crown that seems to burn in autumn colors, in all forms he has fashioned these his favorite trees.
Lars Lerin has a unique position on the Swedish art scene. No other Swedish artist today reaches out so widely and is loved by so many people as he. Perhaps it is precisely the combination of exceptional technical skill and the ability to touch that strikes so many. His artistry is deeply rooted in nature and landscape and he has a unique ability to capture its shifts. Through his watercolors, Lerin not only creates visual representations of the landscape, but also fills them with an emotional charge that carries an almost meditative power.
The auction's work is part of Kenneth Wahlström's extensive collection of works by Lars Lerin, which was sold earlier in the spring.
