HISTORIAN
Stig Lönngren (1924-2022). He passed his cadet examination at Västervik's furniture carpentry school in 1946 and then at Konstfack in Stockholm in 1951. He became an interior designer for the architects Carl-Axel Acking, Sven Hesselgren, Arne Rudberger, KF architect's office and from 1965 with Peter Celsing. Lönngren was also one of the initiators of the HI Group, this amalgamation of sixteen craftsmen and interior designers who strove to innovate Swedish furniture art in the first half of the 1960s. The HI group's program statement was that a blow for the collaboration between craftsmen and interior designers - hence the name HI group. This was something that Lönngren himself considered important as he himself was a trained architect with carpentry training at the bottom. The auction contains nine pieces of furniture, all of which belonged to Stig Lönngren himself and which he had made for his own home.
