Bishop & Miller present The Oak Interior, a sale of 442 lots devoted to antique oak furniture, early carved woodwork and the furnishings of the historic British interior.

Highlights include a James I oak and inlaid tester bed, circa 1610, an Elizabethan polychrome figure circa 1580-90, a medieval oak and ironbound coffer and a pair of George III gilt gesso and limewood figures on plinth stands. The sale also features a Commonwealth period child's high chair of circa 1650, a 17th century verdure tapestry depicting a foliate landscape with castles, and a pair of Queen Anne/George I carved stone gargoyle water spouts.

Furniture forms the backbone of the sale, with 154 lots ranging from a Charles I fourposter bed and a Charles II refectory table to a George II oak longcase clock by James Gandy of Cockermouth and a set of six early 18th century joined oak chairs from Cumbria. Carved panels, figures and architectural elements are also well represented, including Tudor Gothic tracery panels, a 16th century Green Man panel, and a 17th century oak food cupboard.

A collection of 146 lots of pewter and metalwork includes Georgian measures, tankards and wine funnels alongside a rare Charles II pewter wrigglework footed tazza of circa 1685 and an Elizabeth I bronze mortar by Henry Oldfield II of Nottingham. The sale further includes paintings, ceramics, carpets, clocks, mirrors and books.
