The Swedish-born photographer Rejlander acting himself and members of his family in several of the pictures. The other image and twenty-one wood-engravings in the text by Dr. Duchenne de Boulogne, Herr Kindermann and Dr. Wallich. This was the first highly successful use of the collotype process of Ernest Edwards.
