675727. CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM, 2 pcs, "FAC X2", Universal construction kit, Mark Sylwan AB, Stokholm Sweden, around the middle of the 20th century.
Description
2 boxes, dimensions approx. 60 x 39 cm.
Historical background from the manufacturer's website: "Already in the spring of 1952, the Swedish artist Mark Sylwan presented a mechanical construction box, called FAC, at the Technical Museum in Stockholm. Teknikens Värld spoke of a technological marvel in miniature, while Svenska Dagbladet drew parallels with Mått-Johansson.
Previously, only toy building boxes of the Meccano type had existed (whose role in industrial model building should not be underestimated). The new machine building box was something else entirely. The basic element consisted of 4 mm rods, shaped beams and 12 different types of ingenious joining plates. In addition, there were a number of well-made disc and gear wheels. In total, the construction system consisted of over 200 precision-made parts." Source: www.facsystem.se/historik.asp.
