RING, so-called "knoppring/knappring" (knob ring/button ring), gilt silver, Delsbo, Hälsingland, circa 18th century.

A medieval ring type that has been preserved, particularly in the parish of Delsbo, through its function as a wedding or betrothal ring.

The ring has been in the seller's family for several generations. According to the family, the ring was made by Sami people who lived in or around the Delsbo area, so-called "village Sami".

The object comes from the seller's family, who for many generations have been linked to the Byn farm in Delsbo, located near Delsbo church and the heritage museum. Byn belongs to the older farm environments in Delsbo and has for a long time consisted of the farms Byn 1 and Byn 2. The farm included land and forest areas and was located in close proximity to the church and the water. Byn appears in literature about Delsbo and Hälsingland and has also been depicted by several artists.

Between 1730–1790, one of the farms was worked by Olof Hansson, who was a farmer and active as a juror and member of parliament. The seller's family has since been linked to the farm for about eleven generations. The seller's father was named Olof Persson, the grandfather Per Persson, his father Olof Persson and his father Per Olsson. Earlier generations in the family were also farmers and worked the farm. The farm still remains within the family, and the object has been preserved within the family as part of the farm's and the family's history.
