Ling Jian (born 1963), Composition, mixed media with acrylic on torn paper, 1992, signed and dated lower right, approx. 47.5 x 62 cm, framed behind glass, with frame approx. 80 x 94 cm.
The Chinese painter Ling Jian is considered a significant representative of New Chinese Art. Today, he is primarily known for his provocative, hyper-realistic, and partly surrealistically exaggerated portraits of Asian women. In the 1980s, he lived for periods in Vienna and Hamburg. However, the works from his early creative phase in Hamburg (1989 to the mid-1990s) are characterized by abstract works, which were sold through local galleries or direct contacts.
