In 1885, Elisabeth Warling traveled to Paris to study at the Académie Colarossi. It was also her first real encounter with Impressionism. She was influenced by the sketchy painting style and the Impressionists' special relationship with light and movement. This new approach was something different and far more exciting than what was taught at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts back in Stockholm.

Elisabeth Warling's works were accepted for significant exhibitions such as the Nordic Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1888, and she was one of the names representing Sweden at the Baltic Exhibition in Malmö in 1914. In November of the following year, Warling passed away, and a memorial exhibition of her art was organized by the Swedish Artists' Association at Konstnärshuset in Stockholm in 1916. During the Swedish Women Artists' Association exhibition at Liljevalchs in 1917, a small number of her works were shown in her memory.
