Wilhelm Hofelich (1882-1950), Winter landscape, mixed media with oil on paper, laid on wooden panel, signed, inscribed on the reverse by a later owner (reproduction of the inscription on the original backing board): 'W. Hofelich A 5486, München Pündterplatz 1/IV, Rauhreif beim Aumeister, Preis 400 M', on the stretcher with an old label from the 'Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung 1937' in Munich, approx. 58 x 72 cm, with frame approx. 84 x 98 cm.
Wilhelm Hofelich was the son of the landscape painter Ludwig Hofelich. Only after his father's death did he engage more intensively with painting, continuing the family tradition. He exhibited regularly in Munich and became known primarily for his impressive winter landscapes.
Condition
Small tears in the paper at the top left and in the bottom right corner. Painting surface slightly warped at the outer left edge, otherwise minor signs of use.
