NORTH AFRICAN DOOR, Wernet, Hans-Peter.

Acrylic on canvas, signed Wernet and dated (2)023 lower right. The artist Hans-Peter Wernet, now living in Chemnitz, was born on 11 February 1949 in Elzach in the Black Forest. He demonstrated his talent for painting while still in primary school, but despite his teacher's advice, he received no artistic training and began an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker for period furniture. Due to his creative streak, he went on to become a structural draftsman and construction technician, winning a first prize for his designs. It was only upon his retirement that he experienced a change and a reflection on the past, leading him to pick up paint, brushes, and canvas, allowing his art to flow freely. The artist, now living in Saxony, discovered his passion for Africa, particularly Tunisia, where he has made several trips with local exhibitions, thus combining his love for the architecture and everything related to the North African country on the Mediterranean.
