Metal, Polyethylene. Height approx. 113 cm, Diameter 39 cm.
Floor lamp PD2 Floor Lamp, from the La Pedrera series for Gubi. In 1955, the real estate company behind Gaudi's famous La Pedrera building in Barcelona wanted to convert the attics, so far used only as storage rooms, into apartments. The Spanish architect Barba Corsini was hired for the assignment. Corsini designed 13 individual apartments, numbered 1 to 14 due to superstition. The assignment also included designing a number of furniture and fixtures to create an overall feeling in the apartments. The inspiration for the lamps in this series drew Corsini from Gaudi's chimneys. For his work with La Pedrera, he won great recognition in design and architecture. The original design from 1955 was slightly revised in 1991 by Joaquim Ruiz Millet.
